15” Terrene Fashion with a most uncommon body,
sometimes referred to as baggy pants as the legs were encased
loosely in leather. The arms are enameled metal and the dolls
were sold by Adelaide and Gilles Terrene in a shop in Paris.
What started as a doll dressing and hairdressing establishment ,
really came into its own after the death of Giles, they obtained
dolls from Bru, Steiner and other fine manufacturers, and sold
very lavish, clothes, costumes, trousseaus and extravagant toys
etc etc, from 1867 to 1891. They are quite scarce. This little
lady has fine pale bisque, and the metal arms, that denote the
Terrene make. These beautiful ensembles are of antique fabrics.
Her delicate necklace has been made by the doll artist Beverly
Walters of pale blue moonstones. It is an exquisite work of art.
