21" Magnificent Figure C,
is a face with great appeal says Dorothy McGonagle in her book on Steiners. The Figure C took the gold medal at the 1889 Paris exposition. The figure C's modeling was especially sharp, early out of the mold bisque as Steiner molds were not allowed to get too dirty, nor were they used too often, to enable them to yield a crispy modeled doll, this beauty is a fine example. Beautiful coloring, pale bisque, with just the right touch of pink, mauve tint above the eyebrows, and magnificently drawn features. Note the painting on the carmen tipped lips. Her head is marked, “J Steiner Figure C Paris, and her body is marked Petite Parisienne. She wears her original undies under her gorgeous old dress, a pin tucked, and ribbon beaded lawn extravaganza, with multiple rows of lace puffed sleeves. Her antique French bonnet is truly a work of art, the body of the hat rows of shirred satin and climaxing with feather and ribbon bouquet that is nothing short of spectacular. She wears her original wig and has her original cardboard pressed Steiner pate. The finishing touch is her beautiful old socks and white leather boots.
